Training

Horizon has the right training solution for any size operation.

Horizon places a strong emphasis on end-user training and has invested hours formulating training concepts, agendas and materials. Horizon offers a variety of flexible training options to meet the needs of any operation or budget. We offer classroom training, on-site training, remote training, printable reference materials and TrainSmart. All Horizon instructors are well-trained, certified and experienced.

Horizon Academy—Atlanta Office

Horizon offers a full range of project manager training classes in our state-of-the-art training center, delivered by a Horizon-certified Instructor. Each student uses a computer terminal for hands-on experience and receives a variety of supporting documentation, training aids, and User Guides. Upon completion of each course, students take an online exam that provides instant grading. Any areas that are unclear are identified and reinforced. This classroom training, held at Horizon’s Atlanta training facility, is offered at no cost for up to two participants per class. Horizon’s classes are certified by the School Nutrition Association (SNA).

On-site Training

For on-site training, a Horizon instructor comes to your facility to conduct hands-on training in your environment with real-life situations. Individual, hands-on instruction in all focus areas is provided, using actual district data. Training can be conducted in a training lab or at the user’s work station. Typically, the district’s project Manager will attend all sessions. Horizon also offers a variety of implementation, rollout, and custom training classes to meet your needs.

Horizon TrainSmart

Horizon TrainSmart is an effective, low-cost training solution. The Internet-based system provides convenient access 24/7 and includes comprehensive subject material. The majority of materials focus on food safety and general workplace safety.  These short, focused classes can be viewed daily for high retention and are certified by both the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and Dietary Management Association (DMA) so participants can earn one CEU per four lessons.
The newly developed lessons are more in-depth and train staff members on the OneSource food service management software suite. These interactive simulations allow staff to gain realistic hands-on experience without actually having the software installed. These newer lessons have not yet been certified by SNA or DMA.
TrainSmart provides automated testing and historical record keeping of all courses taken.

Reference materials

All of the training and reference materials reflect Horizon’s Best Practices gained from thousands of installations. These resources are updated on a regular basis, and the Horizon Training Department works very closely with the Horizon Customer Service Team to identify common questions presented to the help desk. In addition to Horizon’s extensive online help, illustrated training manuals, workbooks and job aids are available. The training materials are designed to assist clients with learning the software, preparing for the certification tests, and retaining what they have learned.
