Training is the Key to Success with Any Technology System

Horizon has just the right training solution for any size operation.

Horizon places a strong emphasis on end-user training and has spent countless hours formulating training concepts, agendas and materials to meet its client’s training needs. Horizon offers a variety of flexible training options to meet the needs of any operation or budget. Clients can choose classroom training, on-site training, telephone or Internet training, computer-based training, training mode databases that are installed locally with your software, printable reference materials, and TrainSmart. All Horizon instructors are well trained, certified and experienced.

CLASSROOM TRAINING

Horizon’s classroom training program is designed to quickly provide efficient instruction for small groups of students.

Class size is kept at a manageable level to maintain an optimum student-to-teacher ratio. Horizon’s Instructors use well thought out lesson plans and provide handout materials to help reinforce the instruction and for participants to use as a reference later. Each student is provided with a computer to perform hands-on, learn-by-doing exercises. Upon completion of each course, students take online exams that provide instant grading. Any areas that are unclear are identified and reinforced. Classroom training can be held in Horizon’s Atlanta training facility or can be adapted to your local facilities. Horizon’s classes are certified by the School Nutrition Association (SNA).

ON-SITE TRAINING

Live on-site training works best for some situations.

For on-site training, a Horizon instructor comes to your facility to conduct hands-on training in your environment with real-life situations. This type of training is especially effective for training POS cashiers and for various “setup” training situations.

FOLLOW-UP TRAINING

Follow-up training is easily accomplished via the telephone and/or the web.

Horizon offers fast and convenient follow-up training that is customized to fit your schedule and specific needs. This training option is inexpensive because there is no need for travel; you simply accept an invitation via the Internet to view the web-based training. It’s as simple as that.

COMPUTER-BASED TRAINING

Computer-based training is inexpensive and convenient.

Horizon’s computer-based training offers you an easy way to stay up to date on the latest features and time-saving tips. This inexpensive and convenient training option allows you to view recorded materials online, on-demand. You can view monthly webcasts that target specific features and recent support items or you can view specialized instruction for your Project Manager, IT staff or Help Desk on advanced topics. The interactive software simulations are delivered through your web browser so no software installations are required.

TRAINING MODE

The training mode simulates real-world scenarios without affecting live data.

This training option is available 24/7 and is great for high-turnover situations and for getting employees up to speed quickly. The training mode is installed locally on your workstation with Horizon’s software. You can use a copy of the actual database for training or use pre-loaded training databases. You receive training materials that work with the preloaded training databases and provide self-paced, learn-by-doing exercises with step-by-step instructions.

TRAINSMART

TrainSmart is the answer for continual training on a variety of subjects.

Horizon’s TrainSmart is an effective, low-cost training solution. The Internet-based system provides convenient access 24/7 and includes comprehensive subject material. The short, focused three- to seven-minute classes can be viewed daily for high retention. The system includes automated testing and historical record keeping of courses taken. Plus, the courses are Dietary Management Association (DMA) certified so participants can earn one CEU per four lessons.

REFERENCE MATERIALS

Horizon offers a variety of reference materials.

All of the training and reference materials reflect Horizon’s Best Practices gained from thousands of installations. These resources are updated on a regular basis and are available for download on the Horizon corporate web site. The Horizon Training Department works very closely with the Horizon Customer Service Team to identify common questions presented to the help desk. In addition to Horizon’s extensive online help, illustrated training manuals, workbooks, and videos are available. The training materials are designed to assist clients with learning the software, preparing for the certification tests, and retaining what they have learned.
